Airfix A12014 - Blackburn Buccaneer S.2 RAF

Airfix A12014 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2 RAF is a modern and highly detailed plastic model kit in 1/48 scale, depicting the iconic British strike and reconnaissance aircraft as operated by the Royal Air Force. The model features the aircraft’s distinctive robust fuselage, characteristic air intakes, folding wings, and a well-detailed cockpit, making it an excellent choice for Cold War aviation enthusiasts and collectors of British military aircraft. When completed, the model measures approximately 40 cm (15.7 inches) in length, with a wingspan of about 28.5 cm (11.2 inches) with wings unfolded, and a height of roughly 9.5 cm (3.7 inches), giving it an impressive yet well-proportioned presence in 1/48 scale.

For painting, a classic RAF camouflage scheme works perfectly. Upper surfaces can be painted using Vallejo Model Air 71054 Dark Sea Grey combined with 71012 Dark Green, while the undersides are best finished in 71050 Light Aircraft Grey. The cockpit interior can be painted with 71010 Interior Green, and landing gear, air intakes, and technical components can be highlighted using 70863 Gunmetal Grey. Tires and smaller details are painted with 70950 Black. Realistic panel shading, exhaust staining, and subtle operational wear can be added using Vallejo Model Wash Dark Grey and Black Wash, especially around engine areas and wing roots.

With its powerful appearance, low-level strike role, and unmistakable RAF character, this plastic model kit is an excellent choice for modelers interested in Cold War British aviation.
