Airfix A09182A Gloster Meteor F.8 is a finely detailed plastic model kit in 1/48 scale, representing the Royal Air Force’s first truly successful post-war jet fighter. The F.8 was the definitive production version of the Meteor, featuring improved handling and performance, and served as the backbone of RAF fighter units during the early 1950s. The kit includes accurately shaped engine nacelles, slender wings, finely engraved panel lines, and a well-detailed cockpit. Once completed, the model measures approximately 27 cm (10.6 inches) in length, with a wingspan of about 23 cm (9 inches) and a height of around 8.5 cm (3.3 inches), giving it a solid and authentic presence in 1/48 scale.

A natural metal RAF finish suits this aircraft perfectly. The airframe can be painted using Vallejo Model Air 71062 Aluminium as a base, with tonal variation added through 71056 Metallic Grey and selective use of 71064 Chrome. The cockpit interior is best finished with 71010 Interior Green, while landing gear, wheel hubs, and mechanical details can be highlighted using 70863 Gunmetal Grey. Tires and smaller parts are painted with 70950 Black. Subtle exhaust staining and panel shading can be applied using Vallejo Model Wash Dark Grey, especially around the jet exhausts and wing roots.
