The new Y-turn has the same precision and reliability as the other turnouts in UNITRACK geometry. Also, the drive of the Y-switch is housed in the track bedding. The Y-switch is a stop switch. The power-routing system of the stop switches can also be deactivated by adjusting screws on the underside of the switch. This overrides the stop-switch functionality.
The Y-switch allows connection to the 126 mm short turnout type R481-15 ° and the curved tracks with radii R249-15 ° and 481-15 °, resulting in different track spacings of 49.5 mm and 66 mm respectively (see diagram). The Y-switch can also be combined with the switch R718-15 °. This combination gives you a track spacing of 41.5 mm and the option of installing 55 mm wide platforms. In combination with the R481-15 ° points, the result is a parallel track spacing of 33 or 66 mm and the installation of 42 mm wide platforms.
A special feature of the KATO points are the very flat underfloor drives. Hidden in the turnouts is an extremely robust and powerful solenoid drive. Due to the special construction, the points still remain very low and appear original. The electrical points are powered by a 2-pin connection cable.
They are placed with the help of the switch to which the switch cable can be conveniently connected thanks to a plug system. Any number of switch switches can be set together. Before the first switch, however, a rectifier must be plugged in to switch the AC of the transformer (in the KATO PowerPacknot necessary!) to convert into direct current. The switch-off of the turnout drives takes place via the point switch! The current consumption during switching is 0.5 A.
