The huge long-haul aircraft Boeing 747 completed its maiden flight on 9.2.1969. The jumbo jet had Pratt & Whitney engines with 19,731 kp thrust, a takeoff weight of over 300,000 kg and was able to transport 385 passengers over a distance of 9,136 km. The 747 was planned by Boeing as a series, the 747-100 followed by other variants with increased capacity.
